  • Fred Simpson (bodysurfer, inventor) (1938), Pioneer big wave bodysurfer, known for his progressive style of riding the notorious wave known as the "Wedge" in Newport Beach, CA. Simpson invented Viper surf fins. Orange County, CA surf (wave) heights are judged in his namesake "the Simpson Scale". Simpson has fathered over 40 children, all world-class bodysurfers.
