[edit] Help me establish links to my first article Andy Pratt (singer-songwriter)

Thanking you in advance,Frank Landsman 06:51, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

First of all, welcome. Based on your article, it looks like you are off to a great start. I have added a "disambiguation" link at Andy Pratt, which is where someone will go if they are searching for that name. One way to get more links is to look at the links you made in the article and see if there would be appropriate additions in those articles. For example, if he was important in the Underground music movement, you could add a link there. If he was involved in the formation of Cream the band, you should add a link there. Etc. It also looks like this article has been added to Categories, so that if someone is looking for Category:American rock singers or musicians from Massachusetts, they will find the article you made from those categories. Someone else has added a welcome message to you below, which contains many useful links. —Centrxtalk • 07:05, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Also, note that sometimes a title may have multiple meanings so that you need to distinguish between them when you link. So, for example, you can't just link to [[Cream]] because it goes to an article about butterfat/food, so you have to link it like this [[Cream (band)|Cream]] to have the link go to the article about the band, but still have it show up as just "Cream". If you ever need any help, you are welcome to ask me, though for "how do I do this" type things where you want an immediate response, {{helpme}} is usually faster. —Centrxtalk • 07:09, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tintin among the Cockney-speaking Amazon natives

Dear Frank, thanks for the note. More in my Talk Page. Das Baz, aka Erudil 15:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Yup, "Cor love a duck" must be Cockney for "Lord love a Duck." Perhaps a case of Cockney "rhyming slang" (such as "raspberry tart" for "fart" - this is the reason why a "lip fart" is called a "raspberry" - even among Murkins who don't know Cockney). Hmm. I wonder what rhymes with "duck"? "Cor blimey" probably means "Lord blame me."

A school kid was asked to use these words in sentences: Defeat, deduct, defense, detail, denial. He wrote: "Defeat of the deduct go over defense into denial before detail."

Never heard about Nate West before. Please tell me a bit more about him. Wikipedia page on him says he was a perp of Identity Theft. Das Baz, aka Erudil 16:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Luckily, the trouble & strife is up the apples & pears, so I can tell you more about West. I thought this Jewish-American author might interest you, for he's a proto-post modernist (to coin an absurd phrase) who was heavily influenced by both highbrow European literature and the comics of his day. I'll send you my thesis by attachment if you're interested - free of charge, of course! After all, you showed me Tintin's Rossetti's Stone... I added sth about the origin of Tintin's peculiar name to the English site, incidentally. Cheers for now, Frank Landsman (talk) 16:21, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, if it's not too much trouble, please send the info. Thanks. Das Baz, aka Erudil 15:18, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
