Difo Aldiaz (born July 30, 1989), better known by the pseudonym Fractious Jell, is an Indonesian-born undergraduate with an obsession of being a polymath. Educated in the field of computer science, Jell is passionate of literatures, anime culture, video games, Rock 'n Roll, religion, and practical philosophy.
In spite of his preference of being addressed as the Fractious Jell, he is better known as his blogging username Kopral Geddoe.
[edit] Biography
The notorious Fractious Jell was born to a Sunni muslim family and lived an ordinary boy's life within a developing provincial capital until the age of 16, when he moved to Selangor in 2006, for the sake of attending Monash University. Regrettably, his inadequate interpersonal skills resulted in failing grades and solitary life instead. But it is within this solitary life that he ruminated much about life- he virtually spent his entire age of seventeen merely to firmly establish his personal worldview.
Jell's personal conflict began when he learned the controversy Islam has with popular arts. By that time, to instill Islamic values to the pop culture was effectively his raison d’être, which is why the controversy was such a shock. It was the vision of the young Jell, admitedly bigoted by that time. He tried to reason out his obsession with pop culture with his religion, but, after a period of apologetic resistance, gave up and embraced fundamentalism. Yet it did not last long. Jell was drawn to liberal Islam, and eventually adhered to its most extreme form, eliminating ritualism altogether, until finally noticed deism. The moment he read the mere definition of deism was the time that his faith was revoked. Jell was then a born-again deist. This stood still, until at last he deconverted to the agnostic position.
Jell is currently still continuing his study in the University, whilst writing about his passions: arts and philosophy.
[edit] Philosophy
[edit] Metaphysics
Jell paradoxically argues that if the
Abrahamic God exists, he must not be believed.
Philosophically, Jell believes the ignostic notion that the belief of God's existence is irrelevant and is of no importance. That its, though skeptical of the existence of a deity, he believes that as far as God can go, would the the deist God. The existence of a personal God then, should be taken as something that is so overwhelmingly improbable.
His beliefs render a very heavy emphasis in strict agnosticism, insisting that claims of the existence of a supernatural power should never be made, though must not be included in science. Considering several holes in the first cause argument, Jell concluded that God is therefore not a necessity for the existence of the universe, though not necessarily non-existent.
This made Jell very critical about the concept of God that wishes to be believed. If an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God exists, then the existence of powerful arguments against his existence should mean He wants to be hidden, therefore dismissing the obligation to believe in Him.
Jell furthermore reduced the importance of God's existence in a more pragmatic term; either the Abrahamic God exists or not. After all, it is this conception of God that demands faith in Him- should He be non-existent, then whether God exists or not matters little, if anything. And due to the not-so-convincing materials made in His account, Jell dismissed the importance of God altogether.
[edit] Life and Living
Jell is a pessimist, and found problems with several questions;
- Is morality merely a social treatise?
- Furthermore, what is tolerance? Is there any good reason to tolerate people aside of it being some kind of social treaties?
- What is the purpose of civilization? Most probably it will come to an end anyways.
- What is an art? If everything is art, nothing is art. But everything is art!
- How do we perform abstinence? Surely the freedom from desire is freedom from pain, but what if happiness requires desire? Are we cursed to be eternally miserable?
As for to summarize his belief;
- Nothing is either good or bad (quoting Shakespeare).
- It is therefore necessary to channel our perception somehow to achieve happiness, which is the highest good.
- Consciousness must come to an end.
The objective of Jell would be to achieve a "consciousness orgasm" just before death, thereby establishing a "happy end". The consciousness orgasm would be best defined as a state in which man does not fear death, but is paradoxically willing to obtain an eternal life. Of course, this belief does not support morality, aside of the Darwinian conception of it, reflected as a somewhat social treaty. A big hole in the theory Jell is still unable to fill.
[edit] Politics
Though is virtually apathetic towards politics, Jell is completely in favor of the separation of church and state, for he sees that being a non-religionist is the default state of man, and the default, neutral state of a government should be the same. Religion is more of a cultural meme rather than anything else, and enforcing a cultural factor is a no go in all circumstances.
Jell is a libertarian, insists in the principle of self ownership. He's therefore in favor of the pro-choice movement and supports gay rights.
