Talk:Franz Urban
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Does anyone know what nationality Urban was? or if he was a member of the Black Hand? Gator64
The name of the driver of the archdukal car WAS NOT Franz Urban - that's a fictious claim that has been haunting the internet for some years. The man's name was Leopold Lojka (also written Loyka). Lojka was a chauffeur in service of Franz Count Harrach (who on some pictures of the assassination can often be spotted as standing on the running-board of the car) a friend of Franz Ferdinand who placed his car - and driver - at the archduke's disposal. Lojka was - according to his testimony in the preliminary inquiries to the trial (publicise e.g. in W.A. Dolph Owings "The Sarajevo Trial"), wherein he states his personal data, a Czech. Since this article is misguiding and even wrong, as far as the "information" it is supllying is concerned, I'd recommend to remove it. Zsasz
Thanks for that Zsasz, it seemed a bit too coincidental that it was Frazn Ferdinand, in Franz Joseph Street whilst Fraz Urban was driving. Seemed that having the name of Franz in Sareyavo on 28 June 1914 seemed to be bad luck. Thanks for clearing that up. Gator64
