[edit] Congo

"in which he used his athletic ability to rescue US citizens from mobs." Can anyone explain this amusing assertion? Can Carlucci leap tall buildings in a single bound and single-handedly subdue braying mobs? Badgerpatrol 06:17, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

I concur in questioning this "athletic ability" assertion. I don't know of many mobs that are manageable by one 5 foot 7 inch Foreign Service Officer. Mike Mercurio 2 February 2007.

[edit] as US ambassador in Portugal

the article should detail Carlucci's role in Portugal, between 1974 and 1977, where he served as US ambassador. That corresponds to the revolutionary period that followed the Carnation Revolution (Apr/25/74), and to the independence of most former colonies in Africa (Mozambique, Angola, etc). Still today, there is a debate in Portugal surrounding his political relationship to former governments as well as to his current investments there (real estate etc).Nongoloza 15:09, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
