[edit] Notability

I am not convinced that the term "fractal lake" is notable. The references provide in the article at present only use "fractal lake" as a synonym for the Mandelbrot set. If there are no other sources for a more general usage, then this page should just be a redirect to the Mandelbrot set article, as it says nothing that is not already in that article. [edit] Most orbits fractals have a lake

I think that the idea of the 'lake' of a fractal is a valuable concept, and it is notable enough to warrant it's own article.

It is clear enough that this is a separate concept to the mandelbrot set, the M-set is only one example of a phenomena that is found in almost all orbits fractals. I don't think that the notoriety of one particular setting for one particular formula should eclipse the notability of important aspects of an entire class of fractals.

I will put up some image examples of the lakes of other fractal types to clarify the fact that this is not just a synonym for the mandelbrot set.

Thanks for the rigor! :D

My point is that you need to provide reliable sources to prove objectively that the term "fractal lake" is notable and has been used for fractals other than the Mandelbrot set. The current references in the article are not sufficient; neither are pretty pictures. I'll give you some time to provide these sources, but if they are not forthcoming I may nominate this article at AfD. Gandalf61 (talk) 08:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I note that there are still no sources to show that the term "fractal lake" is notable or is used for anything other than the Mandelbrot set. The assertion that the term is used "in most Fractal art software" is not backed up with references. I have tagged the relevant sentences in the article with the fact tag, and I will consider taking this article to AfD if references do not appear soon. Gandalf61 (talk) 08:10, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
