- I've eaten stuff that looked like the picture and very definitely had a fractal structure, so I'd guess it's a plant.
- Highly recommended, both for taste and its fractal structure (and, remember, if the Hausdorff dimension is less than three it doesn't have any calories!)

And it's a natural plant that has been cultivated in Europe since the 1600s, it's nothing genetically modified.
