The Frasers of Strichen are a line of the Clan Fraser. When the Frasers of Lovat had no heir, the Frasers of Strichen inherited the arms, name, and the Lordship of Parliament.

After Archibald Campbell Fraser of Lovat, the second son of Simon "the Fox" Fraser, died, the chiefship of Clan Fraser was passed to a cousin, Thomas Fraser, 12th Lord Lovat. He later gained the title of Lovat, becoming the 14th Lord Lovat. The current chief of the Clan, Simon Fraser, the 16th Lord Lovat, is a direct descendant of Thomas Alexander. So, while the line did not die out, the heads of the family are now "of Lovat."
