Franz Nicolay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Franz Nicolay is an American multi-instrumentalist and composer currently living in Brooklyn, New York. He is perhaps best known for his work in The World/Inferno Friendship Society playing the accordion and the piano and in The Hold Steady playing keyboards. He is also notable for founding Anti-Social Music, a composer/performer collective in New York City and for performing in the gypsy-klezmer troupe, Guignol.
Beyond his long-term participation with these groups, Franz has appeared in recordings from many other bands, such as Mischief Brew, Leftover Crack, The Dresden Dolls, and Nanuchka.
His favorite brand of moustache wax is Cowboy Stache Wax, from Montana. However, "their wax leaves little brown stache tracks on your lady's cheeks." [1].
Franz is presently performing Solo gigs, and in February 2008 will be entering a studio to record a solo album with a band including members of Demander, Dresden Dolls and Nanuchka.
