Franz Brozincevic Wetzikon

Franz Brozincevic & Cie, (FBW), was a Swiss maker of trucks and buses, active between 1922 and 1983 and based in Wetzikon.
FBW gained an excellent reputation for the top-level engineering and the long-lasting life of its products, never producing series but instead making individually tailored vehicles. It used only components of its own manufacture; a costly system that allowed to produce only a few hundred units per year.
Famous designs from FBW were the underfloor engined trucks, in production since 1949.
Trolleybuses were a significant part of FBW production. FBW trolleybuses operated in most of Switzerland cities, and still do it in several of them.
In the late 70s Oerlikon Bührle took over FBW, but a few years later it was merged, togheter with its Swiss competitor, Saurer, into NAW. NAW in turn was taken over by Daimler-Benz in 1983, and shortly afterwards, the production of FBW vehicles was discontinued, being replaced by assembly of Mercedes-Benz multi-axle heavy hauler trucks.
Last FBW badged truck was produced in 1985.
