Franklin M. Davis, Jr

Franklin Milton Davis, Jr. (1918-1980)[1] was a military officer in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Major General before his retirement[2]. Davis fought in both World War II and the Vietnam War[3]. He served as a Brigadier General during the Vietnam War, where he commanded the 199th Light Infantry Brigade from May 1968 to July 1969; his brigade operated in Long Binh and Duc Hoa[4]. During that time he was WIA (wounded in action)[5]. He was Commandant at the U.S. Army War College from 1971 to 1974[6].
He was a published author as well. His early books were fiction, although he later moved into more serious historical nonfiction. Two of his early books were published with his military rank attached to his name: "Col. Franklin M. Davis, Jr." As found on Abebooks.com, these were:
