[edit] Character Information

Frank was the first character to appear in Home and Away, as shown in a 1978 flashback where he was running from the police, aged 8. Frank's father was a known criminal and his mother was an alcoholic. Tom and Pippa Fletcher decided to foster Frank, who would be their first foster child of many.

Frank struggled academically and left school in Year 10. Shortly after, The Fletchers moved to Summer Bay and took over the tenancy bought Summer Bay House from local resident Alf Stewart, who had lived there previously with his daughter, Ruth (known as Roo to everyone) and his late wife Martha.

Frank and Roo later became involved. Roo had fallen pregnant to Brett Macklin, and deceived Frank into believing the baby was his. Frank subsequently proposed and the two prepared to marry.

On their wedding day, Roo could take no more and ran out of the church and confessed that the baby wasn't Frank's, but in fact Brett's. Frank, in a rage, then got behind the wheel of the car Tom had given him as a wedding gift and sped through town. While driving at an erratic speed, Frank swerved to avoid his foster sister, Bobby Simpson (who had been walking along the roads) and crashed.

Frank underwent major surgery after being admitted to hospital and eventually made a recovery.

Frank and Bobby later began dating and got married. This didn't last as the marriage eventually broke down and Frank flew to New York to be with Roo.

In 1992, Frank returned to win Bobby back, but she was already involved with Greg Marshall. Frank proposed and Bobby contemplated saying yes, but ultimated rejected him, leaving Frank to return to New York alone.

Frank wasn't seen in Summer Bay for another eight years, until the day of Sally's ill-fated wedding to Keiran Fletcher.

Frank also returned two years later for the Summer Bay Sesquentenary celebrations and had a flashback to his accident after Floss McPhee (who had foreseen it in her dreams), had a premontion about a storm taking place to mar the events.
