Frank Farrell (rugby league)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frank "Bumper" Farrell was an Australian rugby league footballer and police officer. He played club football for the Newtown "Bluebags" and was also selected for the Australian national side.
Farrell played his entire New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership career with Newtown. He became captain of the club, leading them to victory in the 1943 Grand Final against North Sydney.
Bumper Farrell, in a famous incident in 1945, was accused of biting off a portion of St. George player Bill McRitchie's ear during a match. He formally denied the allegation however.
In the 1946 test series against the Great Britain Lions, Farrell played in all three matches. He retired in 1951.
