Frank Baumgartl (born 29 May 1955 in Schlema) is a retired East German athlete who spacialized in the 3000 metres steeplechase.
At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal he won the bronze medal in a new personal best time of 8:10.36 minutes. This remained his career best time, and places him third on the German all-time performers list behind Damian Kallabis and Hagen Melzer.[1]
Baumgartl never became East German champion.[2] He competed for the sports club SC Karl-Marx-Stadt during his active career.
