Frank Atkinson

Frank Atkinson was an American college and professional football player. He played college football at Stanford University, where he was a defensive tackle. He played professionally in the American Football League for the Denver Broncos in 1964.

Frank Atkinson is a graduate of Stanford University ('62, AB History). Frank played football and rugby at Stanford and in the 1963 NFL draft was the first pick (8th round) of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a starting defensive lineman as a rookie with the Steelers and earned NFL all-rookie honors. Frank completed his football career in 1964 with the Denver Broncos as he earned his MBA degree from U.C.L.A. Frank has gone on to establish a career in venture capital and private equity, both in the U.S. and internationally. In 1969 Frank was the founder and first president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (Menlo Park, CA).
