Franjo Vlašić

Franjo Vlašić (Hungarian: Vlassich Ferenc) was a Croatian general and ban.
He was born April 24, 1766 in Dombóvár, Hungary. He became ban on February 10, 1832. He resisted the Magyarization of Croatia, especially the teaching of Hungarian in schools. During his rule the Croatian national revival was begun with the Illyrian Movement.
He died on May 16, 1840 and was succeeded by Juraj Haulik as ban.
