Franco Magnifico

Franco Magnifico is a former city councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was first elected in a byelection in 2004 when incumbent councillor Dan Vandal stepped down to run for mayor. Vandal defeated Magnifico by reclaiming the seat for St. Boniface in the municipal election of October 25, 2006.
Magnifico was owner of the St. Boniface Hotel and had challenged the Winnipeg's new anti-smoking bylaw in 2003. He was found guilty of allowing patrons to smoke inside his hotel and paid a fine of slightly over $1000.
While in office, Magnifico had been seen as an ally of Mayor Sam Katz.
