Francisco Menéndez

Francisco Menéndez (December 3, 1830 - June 22, 1890) was President of El Salvador 21 June 1885 - 22 June 1890. General Francisco Menéndez was born in Ahuachapán, December 3, 1830 and died in San Salvador, June 22, 1890. His parents were Mr. José Eustachian Menéndez and Mrs Gabriela Valdivieso, possessors of some lands that gave them an economic and independent position. In 1858, General Menéndez had an arranged with Mrs Bonifacia Salazar. At the age of 41, he took an active role on 1871 in the revolution that ousted Dr. Francisco Dueñas, the mayor of Ahuachapán. At the age of 55 General Menéndez was named Provisional President of El Salvador June 22, 1885, receiving the supreme power of Mr. José Rosebushes.
