Francis W. Reichelderfer

Dr. Francis Wilton Reichelderfer (1895-1983) was head of the U.S. Weather Bureau from 1938 to 1963.
He was born in Harlan, Indiana, graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1916. He later served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, afterthat, Reichelderfer took over as head of the U.S. Weather Bureau in September 1938.
