Sir Francis Nicholson (1753 - 1844) was a British artist.

Nicholson was born in Pickering, North Yorkshire, in 1753.
[edit] Career
Nicholson worked in watercolour and oil and is mainly known as a landscape artist.
After he moved to London, he became one of the founders of the Society of Painters in Watercolours.

Nicholson died in 1844 and is buried in Brompton Cemetery, London.

His c. 1837 self-portrait is in the National Portrait Gallery.
