Francesco Maria Bassi the Elder

Francesco Maria Bassi the elder (1642-c. 1700) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He was born at Cremona. He acquired the name of Il Cremonese dei Paesi from his skill in painting landscapes. He was popular among collectors in Venice. His nephew, Francesco Maria Bassi the Younger studied under him, and worked till 1750.
