Francesco Antommarchi

Francesco Antommarchi (1780, CorsicaApril 3, 1838, Santiago de Cuba on Cuba), Napoleon Bonaparte I's attached physician at Saint Helena, wrote The Last Moments of Napoleon. He concluded that Napoleon died of stomach cancer. A plaster death mask of Napoleon brought to the United States in 1834 by Antommarchi is preserved in the North Carolina Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
