François Bazin

François Emmanuel Joseph Bazin (born September 4, 1816 in Marsais; died July 2, 1878 in Paris) was a French opera composer.
He was a student of Auber at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he later taught harmony. He was also a winner of the Prix de Rome. Though his numerous light operas were very popular during his lifetime, they are rarely performed today. A handful of arias are still occasionally performed, including a recording by Roberto Alagna of "Je pense à vous" from Maître Pathelin.
