The Fountain house is one of the most practiced forms of Psychosocial treatment. It is however very unknown outside of treatment and knowledge about the place is actually best acquired by experiencing it. This has been an eternal problem to actually explain what the fountain house is. Especially a section on the work-ordered day would be required in order to understand how a day on such a house proceeds.

Fountain House is one of the first examples of the Clubhouse Model. However I wonder if it is really a good idea to merge the articles for the Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation with any of the individual clubhouses that use the model as a guide. The Model is something that each clubhouse tries to live up to and each clubhouse should have their own article too.

- Yeah, I was doing a comparison and I must agree. However clubhouses are often referred to as "fountain houses" in literature and informally. The title "Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation" should be renamed "Clubhouse Model" because that is the name ICCD refers to. I do not recommend merging the two existing articles. What is needed is an article on the Clubhouse Model/ ICCD. Individual clubhouse articles may link to the Clubhouse Model article. It is true that clubhouses often are referred to as Fountain houses and that the term Fountain house model often is used synonymously with clubhouse model. In many countries the native word for fountainhouse is often used in the names of the clubhouses, like for instance in Norway where all existing clubhouses are kalled Fontenehuset added to the name of the town or community. I think there is agreement in the international clubhouse community to use the term clubhouse and not fountain house when referring to houses in general. This is reflected in the ICCD homepage and the international standards. Of course Wikipedia may include articles on any individual clubhouse around the world, so also on the first clubhouse, the Fountain House in New York. But the NY clubhouse is on line with any other clubhouse - only older (and larger) than the rest. The article on the model and ICCD should relate much more closely to the International Standards of Clubhouse Developement to give a correct and objective description of the model. Couldn't have said it better than the comment above. Though Fountain House definitely deserves to be recognized as having an integral role in the initiation and development of the Clubhouse model, the model itself now exists independently from its source, growing to signify something larger than the methods employed by one clubhouse in the United States (as important as that clubhouse is). To merge the two articles would be like merging "Behaviorism" with "B.F. Skinner" (after all, he developed the main tenets of behaviorism) or the movie "The Pirates of the Caribbean" with "Disney."
The Clubhouse model definitely exists independently from its initial source, warranting a separate article on Wikipedia. However, we can still acknowledge and appreciate the immense contribution Fountain House has made to the Clubhouse movement, even though two different articles exist.
Keep 'em separate!
