Foster Township is a township in McKean County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,566 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 46.4 square miles (120.2 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,566 people, 1,829 households, and 1,305 families residing in the township. The population density was 98.4 people per square mile (38.0/km²). There were 1,947 housing units at an average density of 41.9/sq mi (16.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.51% White, 0.20% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.13% from other races, and 0.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.31% of the population.
There were 1,829 households out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the township the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 96.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $40,341, and the median income for a family was $45,652. Males had a median income of $31,573 versus $22,428 for females. The per capita income for the township was $17,809. About 6.9% of families and 10.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.1% of those under age 18 and 8.8% of those age 65 or over.
