[edit] Laughton
Hi, regarding your comment here there are some images of Charles Laughton as Captain Bligh here commons:Category:Charles_Laughton which I just uploaded. Regards Gustav von Humpelschmumpel (talk) 20:47, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would've just replaced the image and then speedied the copyrighted one as orphaned. Ford MF (talk) 20:57, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:LaughtonasBligh.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:LaughtonasBligh.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:33, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pamboeotia
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Pamboeotia, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ancientlibrary.com/smith-dgra/0861.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 06:58, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NYC Meetup: June 1, 2008
New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, elect a board of directors, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).
We'll also review our recent Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, and make preparations for our exciting successor Wiki Week bonanza, being planned with Columbia University students for September or October.
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
Also, check out our regional US Wikimedia chapters blog Wiki Northeast (and we're open to guest posts).

[edit] Your RFA
Hello Formadoxfraud. Unfortunately I have just closed your recent RFA as unsuccessful. It was a close call, but there was sufficient significant opposition to warrant the closure as no consensus reached - (67/28/5). Read over the opposition comments and consider trying again in a few months. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not surprised. Thanks anyway. Ford MF (talk) 14:39, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted to drop by and say that I'm sorry about how it turned out. I would add that I disagreed with your opposition, but that's kind of implicit in my support. I think you would have made good use of the tools. And I share your need for caffeine. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I appreciate the note, and thanks for supporting my RfA. Ford MF (talk) 14:48, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- 67 'yes' against 28 'no' is 'no consensus'? [stunned silence] It's decisions like these that make me feel that Jimbo's famous "adminship is no big deal" quote hasn't got any relevance to the current attitude on the RfA pages. Anyway. I'm really sorry it failed. Channel ® 23:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

FM, I was gone from Friday till Tuesday with scrambling on either side of the trip, so I didn't get to write sooner. I'm really sorry that it didn't work out. I think that two biased editors shot you down with energized buzz words, and then we had a drive-by pile-on. I too edit in some pretty unsavory articles from time to time to keep WP uncensored but out of the gutter and avoiding soapbox. I think that those who don't get into the edgier issues lack the experience to solve problems, but it is hard to stand in the gutter without getting stinky. Good luck! --Kevin Murray (talk) 17:05, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- You know... one becomes much less of an inclusionist when one goes heavy into newpage patrol. I'm sure you'll do better next time around. DS (talk) 18:50, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WT:FICT revert
No offence intended; I assumed that it was accidental, but I wasn't going to try and put your comment back in the right place as I reverted, partly due to the edit frequency and partly because I couldn't be sure what the right place would've been. SamBC(talk) 17:52, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image of Titus
Please explain why you have reverted to a gigantic image of Titus which completely distorts the Elder Pliny article! I plan to revert your edit to the original or if not, delete the image entirely. Peterlewis (talk) 20:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
