[edit] 1829 Florida Encounter

In the Skunk Ape episode of Monster Quest there was an anecdote about an encounter with a tall, hairy Bigfoot-like creature by a white settler in 1829. On reporting it in town, a group of armed men set off in search of it. When they found it, it attacked and killed many in the party. I've been unable to find any reference matching this anecdote online, though. The description of the monster seems to fit the Bigfoot appearance and behavior, but the killing of humans is very uncharacteristic and I wonder if the story is fanciful. According to Monster Quest, the event was recorded in newspapers at the time, yet it surprises me that I can find no mention of it in any Bigfoot or Skunk Ape literature online. Does anyone know where this story might come from? I am wondering if it was pure fabrication of Monster Quest, in which case I'd seriously question the veracity of other evidence given in the program. Bryce (talk) 22:55, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Found it: story from 1829 of encounter with a Bigfoot-like "Man Mountain"; locals tracked it down - it attacked and killed 5 of their party before dying of gunshot wounds. [edit] have you ever seen a bigfoot

I have not but that does not mean he is not real —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.213.191.26 (talk) 14:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lawrence Livermore Lab Bigfoot Captivity Studies in the 60's

I have heard from dozens of sources including both persons involved in the study as well as employees at the Lab, that two separate Bigfoot were briefly held in captivity between 1962 and about 1964. Both escaped by outwitting their captors, by slipping into an invisible dimension while remaining inside the special holding cell. Then when the janitor received authorization to open up the cell and clean it out, both Bigfoot simply walked and/or glided out the opened door. Both janitors noticed something move past them when they walked in, but saw nothing. Both Bigfoot remained inside the large Lab building complex for a week or two, and apparently visited the break rooms after hours, in search of food. There were no reported injuries in either Bigfoot's romp, since they normally hold no ill will toward man even when taken captivity. Highly telepathic abilities, of great physical and psychological strength and possessing the ability to hide in the higher dimensions, likely causes them to not see man as either competition or as a serious threat that cannot be outwitted. The apparently inaccurate conclusion of that study was that the Bigfoot cannot be controlled, contained and/or communicated with, and were thought to be alien in origination. But what else can one expect from scientists of the 60's. Bigfoot enjoy peaceful communication with man, albeit a very crude level of communication by using methods like branch breaks to answer simple questions, to greet us, to say goodbye to us, and/or signify their presence.208.100.241.95 (talk) 17:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
