Talk:Forest Rights Act (India)

[edit] Project header and Indo-centrism
I am assuming this article is about an Indian law, since that is very unclear from the Lead paragraphs of the article. I'm not certain of the naming conventions for such laws, but I believe "India" out to be in the title also, since "forest rights is a general term, and titles should be specific. This ought to be very surprising to me, since editors of India-origin are usually very quick to point out American or British centrism or bias in articles on those subjects. However, it's been my experience that many Indians are very blind to their own biases and Indo-centrism. If you're going to be the champion agaisnt Anglo-American biases on Wikipedia, pelase clean up your own house first. Yes, the world does not revolve around the UK/US, but it doesn't revolve around India/Pakistan either! - BillCJ (talk) 04:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Move to Forest Rights Act (India)
As Bill points out, Forest Rights Act is too general, and may have to be moved to a title with a more specific name wrt India. I'm pretty sure that quite a few countries have similar laws which are similarly or colloquially called Forest Rights Act. I suggest moving this page to Indian Forest Rights Act, Forest Rights Act (India) or any other suitable page.
Thanks. Cheers. T/@Sniperz11editssign 17:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Agreed on the title. Will move to the new title suggested. As for the intro not being clear that the Act refers only to India, the first sentence does indeed say that this is an Act passed in India. If there are suggestions on how this paragraph can be improved further, pelase let me know. And I am not a regular editor at Wikipedia and hence have never been part of any debate on either Euro-centrism or India-centrism or even, for that matter, Antarctica-centrism :-). Ah, I failed to recognise that you were referring to that comment I'd made on your article on the BGM-109 Tomahawk. Shankargopal (talk) 15:48, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
