[edit] Relations with UK
The long history of sour relations with the UK could be expanded upon. I'll make a start in a while... Seabhcán 11:02, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
I think this page should be cleaned up, mostly in the 1980-1988 section. It is one sided against Iran.
[edit] Iran-North Korea relations
Could this be written about in detail? I'm sure there is some form of diplomacy between the two. Thanks. Fil-mex91 02:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Exporting Islam
There is an AfD discussion currently in progress for the Iran's foreign policy article. That article is a mess and probably should be deleted but I think the topic is encyclopedic and deserves to be included in Wikipedia in some fashion. I don't think the topic is adequately covered here although it could be and maybe should be. That is certainly one of the recommendations that has been mentioned in the AFD debate.
I fully recognize that I am not very knowledgeable about this area and that, being an American, I may have a biased view.
Nonetheless, here are some questions to consider
- Is "exporting Islam" a major component of Iran's foreign policy? I think it is but I'm willing to be enlightened if I'm wrong.
- Is Iran unique among Arab/Islamic nations in promoting the export of Islam? I think it is not but I can't name another country that puts so much emphasis on it.
- Does the topic of "exporting Islam" deserve an article of its own or should it just be a section in this article?
- Are we talking about "exporting Islam" in general or are we talking about "exporting the Shiite version of Islam" in particular?
Your thoughts on these questions are welcomed at the AFD discussion page .

[edit] Removing Relic
I am removing "See also: Iran's Islamic foreign policy" from the beginning of the History section, since this goes back to the current page. It used to be a unique article, but now is a redirect to this article, so the link is a relic. The Behnam 05:18, 12 January 2007 (UTC) Bold text
[edit] See also section
Lets not clutter that section up, all the relations are listed in the template already, so I removed them.Hajji Piruz 13:33, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Original research mixed with NPOV
I'm going to remove this sentence from the bottom point in the "Current Disputes" section;
"Much of the present chaos present in Iraq could have been averted had the Administration taken up this "Grand Bargain."
While I don't disagree with it, it cannot actually be proven, as it's only an opinion. However if you could quote a political correspondent or something saying it, then we could stick it in, as their opinion. Ryan4314 05:27, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sticking to facts
The sentence
- Diplomatic contacts with developing and non-aligned countries, as part of an effort to build trade and political support, now that the US has become an enemy rather than an ally.
was replaced with
- Diplomatic contacts with developing and non-aligned countries, as part of an effort to build trade and political support, now that it has lost its pre-revolutionary US backing.
I think imposition of sanctions and serious war-planning against Iran constitute a bit more than loss of "backing" --BoogaLouie 15:43, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- LOL dude calm down, your edit wasn't "bowderized or whitewashed", it's just that "enemy" is a strong word with lots of implications. Your re-edit to "adversary" is far more appropriate for the article. And for the clarity of anyone else reading this, the sentence wasn't "replaced" it was "reverted back" to it's original form that has existed since November 15, 2004. [edit] The USSR?
Anyone know anything about post-Islamic Revolution Iran's relations with the Soviets? That isn't in the article already? BillMasen (talk) 18:18, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
