Description

Fort Totten

Original description:

As soon as I took this photo an older gentleman came over to talk to me. Apparently, seeing a camera reminded him of his younger days. He had traveled the country taking photos. He started telling me about going to woodstock, and then about the draft. He told me about being in the 101st Airbourne in Vietnam, about hanging out in the 9th Ward during Mardi Gras, about walking into Disney World for free one summer borrowing his roommate's school bus driver shirts, and about what is is like to be from the mountains of West Viriginia and be from a small family with only 11 kids. I was going to take his photo as well, but a train came and he left before I got a word in edgewise. He did tell me though, that like in Smokey and the Bandit, his name was Jerry Reed. All these memories; all apparently brought to mind from seeing a camera.
