Billed as Taiwan's foremost website for foreign residents and visitors, Forumosa.com is a discussion forum with a growing following. Started in 1998 as ORIENTED.org, the community of regular visitors grew as it changed names twice (in 2002 to segue.com.tw and then in 2003 to forumosa.com).
In addition to its phpBB-based discussion forum, Forumosa also has an increasingly popular classified ads database - Taiwanted (formerly known as the Forumosafieds). The ads placed online are also published for free in the associated bi-weekly magazine - Taiwanease.
Primarily written in English, this is an international discussion website moderated by over 25 volunteers from different countries, including Taiwan, the US, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Denmark.
A number of regular off-line activities have been derived from the original website, including a weekly Forumosa Hiking Club, an entrepreneurship club meeting monthly in Taipei, a Game Club every Sunday, and a monthly happy hour in Taipei and other cities in Taiwan.
