Fort Ellis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fort Ellis was an early United States Army outpost established August 27, 1867, to the eastern side of present-day Bozeman, Montana as settlers moved into the Gallatin Valley. It was home to five companies of the 2nd Cavalry and Yellowstone explorer Gustavus C. Doane. The post was abandoned by the Army in 1886.
