Forney is a city in Kaufman County, Texas, United States and has been named by the Texas legislature as the "Antique Capital of Texas." The population was 5,588 at the 2000 census. Current projections show Forney with a population of around 13,000 people.

Forney is located at 32°45'5" North, 96°28'2" West (32.751521, -96.467225)[3].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.8 square miles (20.3 km²), all of it's land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 5,588 people, 1,920 households, and 1,522 families residing in the city. The population density is 712.5 people per square mile (275.2/km²). There are 2,001 housing units at an average density of 255.1/sq mi (98.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 83.72% White, 7.39% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 6.30% from other races, and 1.70% from two or more races. 9.61% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,920 households out of which 46.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.0% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7% were non-families. 17.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% have someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size is 3.29.
In the city the population was spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 33.5% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $52,014, and the median income for a family was $58,295. Males had a median income of $34,886 versus $30,841 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,217. 5.3% of the population and 3.6% of families were below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.2% of those under the age of 18 and 13.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

The Forney Independent School District services Forney. Forney is served by several elementary schools, Forney Middle School, and Forney High School. The district received an academic rating of "Academically Acceptable" based on the test results of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).
