In demonology, Forneus is a Great Marquis of Hell, and has twenty-nine legions of demons under his rule. He teaches Rhetoric and languages, gives men a good name, and makes them be loved by their friends and foes.

He is depicted as a sea-monster.

His name seems to come from Latin 'fornus', 'furnus', oven.

In Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Forneus is a boss that appears like a large stingray with a crown atop of his head.
In Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, Forneus is one of the personas that the main character can summon.
In Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, is a common enemy.
In Ace Combat X for the PSP, there is an obtainable aircraft called the YR-99 Forneus.
