"Forgot About Dre" is a single for Dr. Dre's 2001, featuring Eminem, reaching #27 on the Hot 100. Like the album's lead single "Still D.R.E.," the song addresses Dre's critics in a defiant manner, as Dre announces his return to the hip-hop scene and reminds listeners of his significant influence on the genre.

In the music video, a few explicit lines in Eminem's verse are replaced with a skit in which Eminem is answering reporter Jane Yamamoto questions about a fire he and Dre had started. This video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video in 2000. The song is considered to be a response to disses made by Death Row artists on The Chronic 2000, a compilation released by Suge Knight which steals the original title for Dre's album.
At the end of the "Forgot About Dre" music video there is a small teaser where Hittman performs the first verse of the song "Last Dayz".
This song is sampled in The Human Abstract's single "Vela, Together We Await the Storm".

According to a Behind The Boards interview on Shade 45, [1] on Sirius Satellite Radio, Eminem ghost wrote the song with Snoop Dogg in mind “Originally I had planned to see if Snoop would do the chorus.. I thought it would be crazy if like.. I had the middle verse, Snoop did the chorus..”.[2]
The line, "Who you think brought you the OG's, Eazy-E's, Ice Cube's, and The D.O.C.'s, the Snoop D-O-double-G's, and the group that said 'motherfuck the police'?" outlines Dre's importance in the rap world, the theme of the song.
Eminem's verse features the bizarre violence and aggression typical of his "Slim Shady" alter ego, describing him choking a pedestrian ("One day I was walkin' by/With a Walkman on/ When I caught a guy givin' me an awkward eye/So I strangled him off in the parkin' lot, with his Karl Kani"), and threatening to kill a woman ("Fuck you too bitch call the cops/I'ma kill you and them loud-ass motherfuckin' barkin' dogs.") Also bragging about how he gets out of trouble, in conflict with the law ("And when the cops came through, me and 'dre stood next to a burnt down house, with a can full of gas and handful of matches, and still weren't found out RIGHT HERE")
