Forest Lake State High School

Forest Lake State High School is a public high school located in Forest Lake, which is in the Brisbane City Area of South East Queensland. The school is currently seven years old. The school officially opened in 2001, starting with just years seven and eight only, until in 2005, all grades were organised and the school was deemed an official public high school. All accounts of the school's history and current happeninngs have been collected and added by Stephen O'Connor.

The school officially opened in 2001, with only years 7 and 8, using the first school buildings as the official grounds. The grades gradually increased throughout the years. During the development period, the school had been recoginsed for their sporting achievements after winning a number of District premierships and awards. The school had gained great recogninstion in such an early stage of their history which very little schools had achieved. Nevertheless, it continued to be a strong school. In 2004, the school began on an extension project of the schools buildings, adding more blocks to the school which would be able to fit more grades and students in the years to come. In 2005, the school now had all their high school grades from 7-12. The number of students at the time reached over 1,500 and counting.

The school system is broken into two separate halves, the Middle School (years 7-9) and the Senior School (years 10-12). There is a deputy principal to monitor each half and a student coordinator to also monitor each half.

The school had received very early recognition in sports, being one of a few schools to do so. The school has had numerous achievements in the GBS, Interschool, District and Gala Day competitions, with at leat four to five Forest Lake SHS teams winning a premiership in a particular sport in a particular competition. The school is known for it's success in Rugby League, Soccer, Volleyball, Touch Football, Tennis, Basketball, Rugby Union and Netball. The school has also achieved awards in the annual Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals. The school continues to be strong and excellent in sport today.
