Swaziland maintains diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) instead of with the People's Republic of China.

Swaziland is a member of the United Nations, the African Union, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, and the Southern African Development Community. Eleven accredited ambassadors or honorary consuls are resident in the country.

In the past, Swaziland has asked South Africa to open negotiations on reincorporating some nearby South African territories that are populated by ethnic Swazis or that were long ago part of the Swazi kingdom.
