Ford City, Ontario
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ford City is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the municipal boundaries of Windsor. The community was founded by the Ford Motor Company in the early 1900s as a separate company town. The boundaries east to west were Pilette Ave to Walker Road. The north and south boundaries were Riverside Drive to Grand Marais. The downtown main street is Drouillard Ave. The main buildings of Ford are the casting plant engine plant, and the power plant. In the 1950s Ford City, Sandwich Towne, Town of Riverside, Pilette Village and Walkerville merged with the City of Windsor.
In 2007 the Ford Windsor Casting plant did close its doors forever, while the engine plant remains.
