Forcipules are a unique feature found only in centipedes and in no other taxae of arthropods. The forcipules are modifications of the first set of legs, making them into pincer-like appendages, and are always found just behind the head. These limbs function as a set of jaws, and are used for injecting poisons and holding onto captured prey. From a centipede's poison glands runs a tube to almost the tip of each forcipule.
