[edit] Synopsis

This period comedy revolves around Ling Ling Fat, one fourth of a group of and personal bodyguards of the Emperor. All four agents are known only through their codenames:

  • Ling Ling Kung Charles Shen - Somewhat the leader of the group, tall, well-built and toned, he is a master of a form of martial arts known as "metal cloth", where he becomes impervious to most physical attacks, including swords, schmitars, wooden pillars, etc.
  • Ling Ling Hei - He has mastered "shattering rock legs", with kicks that are so powerful they can easily destroy stone tablets and pillars.
  • Ling Ling Fat Stephen Chow - By far the most incompetent member, he does not know any martial arts, instead spending his time inventing useless gadgets. He works as a gynecologist for his cover when he is not in the Forbidden City.
  • Ling Ling Choi - Another martial artist well versed in "five styles fist", including Dragon, Snake, Tiger, Panther, and Crane. He can interchange between each style effortlessly depending on the opponent.

The show begins with Ling Ling Fat spotted some great aged swordmen fighting. One of them gave him a manual. after that, they disappear.

All the four bodyguards show off their talents. When it's Ling Ling Fat's turn, he did nothing in the beginning. It displeased the emperor badly.

Ling Ling Kung the leader felt so embarressed and apologised to the emperor for him failing to discipline Ling Ling Fat. Ling Ling Fat said he had found a weapon to blast off his leader's "metal cloth", blowing him up into pieces.

Ling Ling Kung is very offended. Ling Ling Kung puffs himself up to show off his ripping muscles and strength, telling Ling Ling Fat to do the experiment. In the end, Ling Ling Fat failed. Ling Ling Kung was so afraid if his junior succeed in blowing him up. He checked his body and was relived that he's still alive. The emperor is very angry. Ling Ling Fat tried to please the emperor somemore with his discovery of magnets and the spinning fan. The emperor is not interested. Ling Ling Fat disappointed the emperor further by failing to master the swordsplay that the aged swordsman has given to him.

Because of his incompetence, Ling Ling Fat is banished to menial tasks within the Forbidden City, and is not allowed to speak or even look at the emperor. However, all this changes when he discovers that the emperor has been kidnapped by the Gum Clan, a northern tribe bent on overtaking the rest of China.

The Gum Clan led by Faceless are power thirsty to overtake China. But first they has to finish off the 3 bodyguards of the emperor. On the day of the incident, Fat took his wife out to town to enjoy a day of feast.

Ling Ling Hei was killed by crushing his head; represent by Fat smashing a watermelon into smaller bite piece for his wife. Ling Ling Choi's hands are disabled and then his stomach are ripped open. That's represented by the restaurant waiter ripping a steamed chicken for his guests; Fat and his wife.

The killer who's Faceless's wife had a tough time on killing Ling Ling Kung as no weapon can penetrate him. The tall, muscle lad had 'metal cloth' even on his eyelids. When Ling Ling Kung kicks Faceless's wife to the ground. She saw his weakness. She kicked one of his legs to let him spit his legs apart to tear his pants. Ling Ling Fat screamed with agony as Faceless's wife stabbed his scrotum; represent by breaking two eggs to make scrambled eggs for Fat and his wife. Ling Ling Kung's not showed anymore, presume he's killed.

The scheme by the Gum Clan to overtake China is simple: by luring all of China's doctors and healers to a special autopsy of an alien (clearly a parody of the Roswell incident), they could be slaughtered in one place, thus depriving China of doctors. This allows the Gum Clan to ride south and massacre the emperor's armies with ease.

Ling Ling Fat, well aware that the Gum Clan are a treacherous tribe, decides to secretly embed himself within the group of doctors, despite lacking proper training. During the autopsy, it is discovered that the alien is none other than the emperor clad in an alien suit. In the ensuing battle, the majority of doctors are killed, but Ling Ling Fat single-handedly repels the family that heads the Gum Clan.

In the second part of the story, the emperor charges Ling Ling Fat with finding a courtesan (Gum Tso), and bringing her to the Forbidden City to be made a Royal concubine. However, Ling Ling Fat becomes smitten with her, and decides to steal her from the emperor, going so far as abandoning his wife and threatening her with violence. The emperor discovers the betrayal, and just as he is about to declare Ling Ling Fat's family be slaughtered, Gum Tso is locked up instead. It seems that once again, Ling Ling Fat has uncovered the ruse behind Gum Tso's true intentions, because she is none other than the leader and the sole survivor of the Gum Clan disguised as a prostitute.

Being an extremely accomplished martial artist, the leader (literally named "No Face King") easily dispatches the emperor's guards. Ling Ling Fat, in an attempt to fatally electrocute Faceless King, becomes gravely injured himself. However, just as the king is about to kill Ling Ling Fat's wife, Ling Ling Fat is able to get up, dust himself off, and perform the "Flying Fairy" move, which was introduced in the prologue of the movie.
