[edit] History
For God and Country was considered by many to be Parton's musical attempt to deal with the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Included were covers of now famous patriotic songs, ("God Bless the USA," "When Johnny Comes Marching Home") and many new Parton originals. The album includes her third version of "Light of a Clear Blue Morning".
The album received mixed reviews but did manage to make it to # 23 on the U.S. country albums chart. It is perhaps best remembered for its cover photo, depicting Parton posing as though appearing in a vintage USO poster.
