For England...! is the sixth episode of series two of the BBC's Robin Hood series. It was aired on Saturday 10 November 2007 on BBC One.
[edit] Plot
The Sheriff's Black Knights gather at the castle to attend a feast and declare their allegiance to Prince John by signing the Great Pact of Nottingham. With the outlaws disguised as entertainers, Robin infiltrates the castle to join forces with the only man who can stop them: former Sheriff Edward's old ally and Black Knight, the Sheriff of Winchester. Winchester's territory is key to the Sheriff's Shah Mat plan that will apprehend a homecoming King Richard at the southern ports.
Once Robin is satisfied he has convinced Winchester to stand up to the Sheriff, he sends the outlaws on a diversionary mission and writes a farewell letter to Marian. Preparing to make his greatest sacrifice alone for King Richard and England, Robin hopes to finish Shah Mat once and for all by killing all the Black Knights.
As Robin enters the feast disguised as a Black Knight, he's in for a terrible shock: Winchester is revealed to be corrupt and has double-crossed Robin, lining him up for the Sheriff to kill. With Marian added as a sweetener to his deal, Winchester has set Robin up. Guy is disgusted by the Sheriff giving up his beloved, and tries to save Marian by getting her out of the castle. However, the Sheriff is suspicious, and Guy thinks he can do nothing.
With Robin surrounded by a roomful of enemies, he faces certain death alone. Only with the help of his outlaw gang can he hope to fight for his life.
Winchester blackmails the Sheriff into giving him Sussex(and some of Surrey), much to his displeasure. The Sheriff orders Guy to kill Allan; who was in the castle, looking to be introduced to the Dark Side; just because he wants to see a hanging. After he has caught Robin, however, he sees it fitting to make the two fight over a boiling vat of tar. Robin seems reluctant to fight, but Allan forces him to.
The outlaws, dressed as minstrels and their weapons well disguised by "crafty craftsman" Will, arrive just in time to save the day. With the help of the spilled tar and a flaming arrow, Robin begins to escape with his friends. He stops, and looks back, to see Winchester with his arm around Marian; she is now his. His outlaws pull him away, and he is forced to leave Marian.
Robin and his gang are in the woods, lying in wait for Winchester's carriage, guarded by two hooded figures. Marian is inside and bound, disgusted by Winchester's plots; he wanted Marian as he believed her father, Edward, stole "his girl." He sees this as revenge.
Robin and his gang are preparing to attack when the two guards stop for no reason. Winchester emerges, demanding to know the reason for stopping, and it is revealed that the two figures are the Sheriff and Guy of Gisbourne. The Sheriff asks if Winchester really just expected to get away, as Gisbourne comes up from behind and kills him.
The gang watch as Guy takes Marian on the back of his horse and rides to the castle; she sees Robin in the trees, but can only look back at him as she rides away with her arms around Guy.
