Ahoy

I would say right now it's borderline. The general rule is that somewhere from 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the voters need to vote delete in order for an article to be deleted. Within that range it's more or less a subjective decision of the sysop who judges the outcome. Hopefully it'll survive. Everyking 16:57, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sig

Hi!

It took me some time to figure that out too. To make a custom sig, you should to go to preferences (on the top menu) and check the box Raw signatures. Then you'll have to fill Your nickname (for signatures) with the links to you and your talk page ([[User:<your user name>|<your user name>]] & [[User_talk:<your user name>|talk]]). If you want, you may also add some HTML code to change format, colors, etc.

Please be careful if you do not have some experience with HTML, since your signature may end up changing the format of the rest of the page if you do not close the tags properly.

Hope this will help you.

[edit] notability?

Can you explain your reasoning behind classyfing borgolf as non-notable? Don't you think a physical sport played by hundreds of people is encyclopedic? ---FoodMarket talk! 04:01, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Please provide some citations or links to known sports encyclopaedias/newspapers which can verify the claim of its notability. Megan1967 05:23, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • As much as I actually like this article (as a disc golf player myself), it unfortunately doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for a valid encyclopedia article. If I were you, I would take the content of this article and make a regular website from it. That will contribute to its development as a verifiable topic and hopefully spawn some other sites, or at least mentions on other sites. Making an encyclopedia article about it before anyone's even heard of it is putting the cart before the horse. I hate to support deletion of the article, but the Wikipedia guidelines are pretty clear on verifiability and original research. Hopefully, the sport will survive the test of time and the article can be recreated at some point. Maybe in 6 months, we can undelete it if it really does prove to be a popular sport. Cheers. [edit] The difference ...

between episodes of television series and borgolf is partially numerical; hundreds of thousands have seen television show epidoses, millions if it has any sort of a following; probably only a few hundred have seen the play of borgolf to date. I think it has the possibility of becoming at least as signficant as disc golf, which has an "official" course only about 35 miles east of Centennial Park at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, among many other places. The other difference, and the big one, is that offcial studio records would presumably document the existence of every episode of, say, Babylon 5, even though you and I probably agree that it is less significant that borgolf. Hey, don't worry about getting a negative vote from me unless you write an article about your elementary school! Rlquall 10:16, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

    • The fact that I can't find any sport encyclopedia or newspaper articles online about borgolf does not automatically make it non-notable... I would wager the majority (50%++) of articles on wikipedia have NEVER been covered in other encyclopedias or newspapers. You're not going to find a Britannica entry for an episode of a tv show or a pop single, but you will on wikipedia, and that's a good thing... ---FoodMarket talk! 12:38, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
      • Whether you think it exists or not is not the issue. Whether it is verifiable is - Verification is part of Wikipedia policy, see Wikipedia:Verifiability. You will find most pop singles and tv episodes that are not notable or verifiable usually ending up on vfd. Megan1967 01:09, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

This image from the deleted article on Kate Stelnick could probably be used in the Competitive eating article, provided you add a license tag to the image page. If you don't, the image is likely to be deleted soon. up land 21:08, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Web-screenshot tag

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Google screenshot.png, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please make sure that Wikipedia has permission to use these images. Then edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. You may find an appropriate tag at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags or Wikipedia:Template messages, or if none of these fit you may write a description of the license yourself. You may want to refer to the image use policy. If the use of this image on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate this image to be deleted. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 20:04, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Vupr.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Vupr.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ctnash.jpg)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ctnash.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 20:24, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] February 8, 2007

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the Anna Nicole Smith page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. (While this edit was funny, it was nonetheless vandalism. I know it's hard, but please try to refrain - particularly on articles about current events where new visitors might be dropping by and get the impression that we are, you know, a bunch of jokers.) --TheOtherBob 21:12, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Mf logo.gif

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mf logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The moonlight

A tag has been placed on The moonlight, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
