Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn (1944 - ) is a Malaysian politician and the former Minister of Human Resources in the Malaysian federal cabinet. He is also one of the four vice-presidents of the Malaysian Chinese Association, a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.
Fong is the Member of Parliament for Alor Gajah, Melaka. He was the Malaysian Minister of Human Resources since December 1999. He was not appointed minister after the 2008 general election as the MCA had a policy to limit any government posts among its leaders for a maximum of two parliamentary terms.
Fong received his bachelor degree in electrical engineering from Canterbury University, New Zealand. Later, he went on to receive his MBA and Ph.D. from University of Rochester, New York. Fong's Ph.D. (1974) dissertation title is "The Multi-Region Dynamic Capacity Expansion Problem: Exact and Heuristic Approaches".
He is married with 3 sons. His official residence is in Sierramas, Sungai Buloh in Selangor, Malaysia.
