Fond du Sac is a village in the northern part of the island of Mauritius.http://www.flickr.com/groups/fonddusac/ It serves as the district capital of Pamplemousses. Fond du Sac is linked with the roads leading to the capital, Port Louis and to the villages of Flacq and Mahébourg. To some, Fond du Sac is also known as 'Kasmakaya' and gained notoriety a few decades ago. Plaines des Papayes and The Vale are the two closest villages to Fond Du Sac. As with the rest of the island, the residents are very friendly and hospitable. The village is very close to the northern coastal region. The Mon Choisy beach is less than 8 minutes by car away. One of the main events in Fond du Sac is the Sunday Market. Visitors are recommended to visit the market very early in the morning as this is the time when the best deals can be made. The village also holds a variety of small shops, restaurants, newsagents and a Filling Station. A complex called 'Dallas Building' consists of the post office, a restaurant, a bank and a jewellery shop. The 'Bhojpuri Boys', a rather well-known local group comes from Fond du Sac.
