Folke West

Folke West (Westerholm) is a Finnish television producer, reporter, tour leader and lecturer. Folke has visited more than a hundred countries and has made more than 370 tourism documents mainly in the 1990's. He has produced nearly 600 TV programmes and also acted as the producer of Yöradio (Night Radio) radio programme of Radio Ykkönen in Finland. Tourism programmes made by West were Matkamies and Folken matkassa among others. In Finland many of his tourism programmes are generally considered as somewhat camp, mainly because of his extraordinary speaking style.

West also has acted as the consultant of international travel agencies taking care of the launching of Cuba's tourism.

In summer 2006 Nelonen aired document series made by Folke West, "Nuori Fidel Castro" (Young Fidel Castro). The programme also contained unparalleled material because Folke had been given the permission to examine archives in Cuba and to use it in his programme.

West has also been involved in the politics. In 2004 he tried to get in the European Parliament from the lists of Swedish People's Party.
