Fo Tan Station (Chinese: 火炭站, Jyutping: fo2 taan3, Pinyin: Huǒtàn; lit. fire charcoal) is a station on the East Rail Line. It is located in the Fo Tan area of Sha Tin District, between Sha Tin and University stations.
The station was opened in 1985, two years after the total electrification of the railway.
The passenger station serves some apartment buildings, villages, a medium-sized industrial zone, as well as the headquarters of the KCRC. During rush hour, some northbound trains terminate at this station before departing southwards. Some trains do not run through this station on race days, and are instead diverted to stop at Racecourse Station.

In addition, two tracks spur off at the northeast of the station, and lead into a goodsyard north of the station. The station goodsyard is considered to be well-utilised, with freight trains stopping regularly.

[edit] Platforms
The station has three tracks, with two island platforms between.
Trains normally stop at platforms 1 and 4. The centre track is used in these occasions:
- for special southbound departures during morning peak hours,
- for southbound stopping when there are trains heading to/from the depot, or Racecourse station during race days, or
- to serve as a buffer so that non-stop through trains can overtake local trains.
Platform 4 is closed during daytime non-peak hours due to a nearby construction site. Southbound trains have to depart at platform 3 instead.
[edit] Exits
Originally, the Southern Concourse was the only concourse in this station. Because the 2 concourses are built in separate years, they are not interconnected. Those who ride on wrong esculators up to the wrong concourse will have to go back to the platform and take the correct esculators to reach their intended concourse.
