I wouldn't go into long discussions of alternative accounts in footnotes. That gives priority to the main text. Include conflicting accounts in the main text or resolve then on the talk page ... here Talk:Sir Charles Dilke, 2nd Baronet. I have moved your text to the talk page where your offer belongs.
