Template talk:FMQ
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are three templates to make it easy to provide links to the Federal Communications Commission database entries on FM band, AM band, and television stations in the United States. They are simply {{FMQ}}, {{AMQ}}, and {{TVQ}} respectively (or, if you're lazy or don't have a shift key, {{fmq}}, {{amq}}, and {{tvq}}). Each one takes a single argument. For example, {{fmq|KABC}} will result in the following text:
Note that stations with three-letter callsigns (WIS, WGN, etc.) will probably produce multiple results instead of a single station. Occasionally, a four-letter station will return multiple stations, so for the most specific results, include the "-FM" or "-TV" (or "-LP", "-CA", etc.) suffix if it exists (this will fail if such a suffix does not exist for the specific station).
[edit] Should use FIN, not call
This template should use the Facility ID Number (FIN), which is constant, and not the callsign which can be changed on a day's notice for $65. This would also eliminate the problem with ambiguous partial callsigns. 121a0012 22:42, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
