[edit] Biography

My name is Brad A. Patrick, Ph.D. I am currently working as a postdoctoral scientist in the department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. My research involves influence of NQO1/2 in p63-mediated carcinogenesis. I was born in Metairie, LA in 1979 and lived almost exclusively in Baton Rouge since, until I enrolled at UTMB in the fall of 2002 and finally relocated to Columbia, MD in the summer of 2007. I am a graduate of Louisiana State University, with a BS in biochemistry, minoring in philosophy (class of '02). I'm a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Society of Free Radical Biology and Medicine. Online I often use the screenname "Floyd Mephit", which I took from a few stories I wrote with the anthropomorphic main character of the same name. I have a weblog on Livejournal [1], and also have my own domain [2], though at present it is little more than a repository for uploaded pictures and a pointer for my blog. I began reading the Wikipedia some time in 2003, and finally made an account in the Fall of 2004.

[edit] Wikipedia-related interests

  • My primary interest is simply to correct errors in articles related to my interests.
  • Other than that, I mostly like fixing small spelling and grammar mistakes (proofreading) as I randomly crawl the Wikiverse (mostly while I'm at work in the lab -- yes I admit it).
